This was one of my first commissions for Padre's Porch, a World of Warships ( and other games ) streamer on Twitch! The prompt was for the theme 'Porch Pirates' and I ran with that idea in many ways. The pirate ship itself is a big porch with railings, and there's a rocking chair attached to the front of the ship instead of a mermaid or other statue. As a nod to World of Warships, I have torpedos flanking the ship but had fun designing them as shark like characters. This is also the first depiction of these goofy crew members representative of Padre's community. I went straight to finished inks from the approval sketch shown above. Most times I just need to get in some important areas to articulate then can finish the rest as I ink the final line art. Once fully inked and colored it was sent to the client as a 12x16 inch ( standard tshirt graphic area size ) flat art for a poster print, as well as transparent background version for use on tshirts and other merch.
This was one of the first pieces I worked on for Padre but it was by far one of my all time favorites. I also continue to enjoy the creative freedom and fun concepts that Padre gives me to work on to this day. Thanks for supporting the drawz neighbor!
